Why are the world’s cruise lines charging for extra luggage?
JAKOTA, FLORIDA — JAKOTAS are going to start charging extra for extra baggage on their ships, the carriers announced Thursday.
The U.S. Virgin Islands-based cruise lines said passengers will have to pay $15 a bag for extra seats on its ships and $30 for extra items like blankets, hand towels and blankets and pillows.
It’s not clear how the extra fees will be calculated.
The announcements come after a U.K.-based cruise line, Royal Caribbean Cruises, said last week it will start charging passengers for extra space on ships.
Last year, Virgin Group also said it would start charging for additional space on cruise ships.
